I have the following note giving me the date and place of death for Abigail Russell Deputy:
Per "Delaware Gazette," 22 Nov. 1864, Death Announcements, page 2, col. 5:
"Deputy,
Abigail, at the residence of son in law, Manlove Davis in Appoquinimink
Hundred [New Castle County, DE ] in her 85th year." Bibliography:

This may be a case of "Nice Guys Finish Last".
Daniel
Deputy, b.3 Sep 1814, was the 3rd of 7 children to James S. &
Abigail (Russell) Deputy, grandson to Jesse and Susan (Collins) Deputy,
and g-grandson to Sylvester and Elizabeth (Townsend) Deputy.
Daniel seemed to be a "late bloomer", as he did not marry until he was almost 40 years old.
In
1840, when he was 26, he was living with his mother, widow Abigail
Deputy, age 59, taking care of a 0-4yo girl, no idea who she belonged
to.
In 1850, when he was 36, we find him head of a
household with 3 other residents: 1) Abigail Deputy, age "19"; 2) John
Watson, age 19; and 3) Jane Midcap, age 20. As we have no record of
another Abigail Deputy in 1850, and it seems unlikely that a 19 and 20yo
unmarried women would be accepted as living with 2 (single?) adult men,
we strongly suspect that the "age 19" Abigail Deputy is actually
Daniel's mother, age 69.
Elsewhere in Cedar Creek
Hundred at this time, the William R. Hickman family, with wife Sarah
Thomas Hickman and 5 children - Martha, Caleb, Mary, Rachel and John -
ranging from 9 to 21yo in 1860, lose their father in 1852, leaving Sarah
and children in dire straits. Although we cannot find a marriage
record, it appears that Sarah & family found a savior in Daniel
Deputy, who married Sarah around 1855.
Only a couple of
years later, in 1857, Daniel's brother Nathaniel, who had been widowed
just a few years earlier in the decade, also dies, leaving 4 children -
Elizabeth, Robert, Sarah and David - as orphans. Daniel seems to have
gotten into the stepdad routine by this time and ends up taking these
nieces and nephews into his and Sarah's household.
By the time of the 1860 census, Daniel has quite a family!:

So
much so, that mom Abigail has moved out to live with daughter Mary and
Manlove Davis' family in Newcastle County, DE, where Abigail eventually
dies in 1864.
But before Abigail's passing, Daniel
meets his own demise at age 49 in October 1863. Caring for two other
families can take its toll, as you can imagine; and when the courts open
probate proceedings of his estate, the assessors report back that
Daniel has absolutely no goods or chattels of any value in his estate.
To add insult to injury, his wife, Sarah, who is presumed to fill the
role of estate Executrix, renounces this role (despite there being
absolutely nothing to execute!), and instead requests the court appoint a
lawyer to file the final paperwork with the courts.
Daniel
and Sarah had no kids of their own, so Daniel died childless and
without family. Even his burial site seems to have been forgotten -
while a cenotaph was eventually placed on his parents' farm in
commemoration of him, his brother Nathaniel, and their parents, we have
no record of where or when any of them were buried.
